MAGNANI ARTE MODERNA Universal Paper and Pad 300 g/m² - 100% Cotton, White

Are you looking for ultimate versatility and uncompromising quality for your art projects? Magnani Arte Moderna 300 g/m² is a masterpiece from the top Italian manufacturer, designed specifically for mixed media techniques. This 100% cotton paper offers the perfect balance between the traditional art of filmmaking and the demands of contemporary art.

Depending on your workflow and needs, the paper is available in two practical formats:Large Sheet (76 x 56 cm) – (code 108170): Features four deckled edges characteristic of handmade paper and a watermark, giving every artwork an exclusive and professional look.
Universal Pad (24 x 32 cm, 20 sheets) – (code 501114): A compact, glue-bound pad ideal for working outside the studio, sketching, and hassle-free travel without damaging the paper edges.

Key Product Features:

100% Premium Cotton: Long cotton fibers provide the paper with exceptional strength, absorbency, and mechanical durability.
Mould-Made: Produced on a traditional cylinder mould machine, giving the paper a natural, slightly textured rough/natural grain.
300 g/m² Weight (140 lb): A strong and thick base that easily withstands high moisture, repeated washes, layers of paint, and scraping.
Extra White Tone: A pure white surface without optical brightening agents (OBA-free). This enhances color contrasts and ensures the pure brilliance of pigments.
Museum Quality: Completely acid-free, pH-neutral, and chlorine-free. Complies with the ISO 9706 standard for maximum archival longevity.
Vegan-Sized (Plant-Based): Sized using only vegetable-based starches, making this paper completely suitable for vegan artists.

Application and Suitable Techniques:

Magnani Arte Moderna is a true universal paper designed to perform perfectly in both dry and wet mediums, allowing you to combine them on the same page without limitations:
Wet Media: Watercolor, gouache, ink drawings, acrylics, and liquid ink or acrylic washes.
Dry Media: Graphite pencil, charcoal, sanguine, soft and oil pastels, and colored pencils.
Printmaking and Graphics: Thanks to its 100% cotton composition, the paper (especially in the large sheet format) is excellent for intaglio, lithography, and relief printing techniques.

Which Format Should You Choose?

Choose the 24 x 32 cm Pad if: You want to easily bring your paper along for plein air painting, make quick studies, or keep your work compactly together until finished. The glued edge keeps the sheet stable and flat while painting.
Choose the 76 x 56 cm Sheet if: You create large-scale artworks, need the specific deckled edges for printmaking, or prefer to tear/cut the paper yourself into custom sizes.

Product Advantages:

Exceptional Absorbency: Thanks to the plant-based sizing and cotton fibers, water and pigments absorb evenly, preventing excessive buckling of the paper.
Erasure and Scraping Resistant: Withstands repeated corrections, erasing, and the use of masking fluids without damaging the surface.
Long-Term Preservation: Will not fade or yellow under the influence of sunlight (UV protection).
Pad Convenience: The 20-sheet pad offers an excellent price-per-sheet ratio for daily professional work.

Product Disadvantages:

Sensitivity of Sheet Transportation: Single large sheets (76 x 56 cm) are fragile and can get bent at the corners during transport (it is recommended to purchase multiple sheets at once or choose the convenient pad format).
Not a Dedicated Watercolor Paper: While it handles watercolor beautifully, its surface sizing does not behave exactly the same way as paper made exclusively for watercolor (e.g., Magnani Portofino or Hahnemühle), which may slightly alter drying times in heavy wet-on-wet techniques.
